PITTSFORD, N. Raphael Guerreiro Dortmund Jersey .Y. -- Bills coach Doug Marrone blew up at his players on Thursday, sending a message that hes fed up with too many fights and post-whistle shoving matches during practice. Marrone cleared the field during the middle of a team drill and ordered players to run sprints after several of them exchanged shoves. That included receiver Marquise Goodwin pushing down rookie cornerback Sam Miller from behind. Marrone then directed his anger at starting defensive end Jerry Hughes on the sideline. Looking directly at Hughes, Marrone used several profanities in telling the player to stop complaining. "Why cant you handle it as players?" Marrone yelled. He then motioned toward the locker room and said: "Do you want to play on this team?" Once again looking at Hughes, Marrone said: "If youve got a problem with me, you need to come and tell me." Marrone spent a few minutes meeting with Hughes following practice. Walking off the field, Hughes referred questions about what happened to Marrone, and added: "the head coach took care of it." Afterward, Marrone said his comments were directed at the team and not Hughes. "Thats directed at anyone who doesnt want to be part of the team," Marrone said. "I told Jerry that I love the way he practices and I love the way he plays special teams and how he goes about it. And weve got to get some other guys who are starters to do that." Marrones blowup occurred on the final day of practice at the Bills training camp facility in suburban Rochester. The Bills will have two more walk-throughs at camp -- both closed to the public and media -- before travelling to Orchard Park on Saturday for their preseason game against Tampa Bay. Several fights have broken out during camp, which opened July 20. The most intense fight occurred Wednesday when rookie defensive end Bryan Johnson ripped off the helmet of centre Eric Wood and then connected with several punches. Numerous veterans stepped in to defend Wood, who sustained a cut on his nose. Johnson was wrestled to the ground by guard Erik Pears and tight end Scott Chandler. Hughes wasnt involved in the fight, but yelled a few things from the sideline, including: "Twenty-one days in pads and counting. I love it!" Marrone, a former NFL offensive lineman, said theres no place in the game for fighting, that it shows a lack of respect for players, coaches and the game. "Figure it out. Were responsible for the integrity of the game," Marrone said. "There is no use for fighting in the game of football. Period. End of discussion." Veteran defensive tackle Kyle Williams spent time counselling Hughes immediately following Marrones blowup. "We talked about being a pro and making sure we keep it that way all the time," said Williams, a nine-year veteran and longtime defensive captain. "Weve been hitting on each other for a while and that kind of thing spills over from time to time," Williams said. "But at a certain point, you have to be a professional and understand theres guys here trying to make the team. And theres a time that youve just got to walk away from it." Running back Fred Jackson, another team captain, welcomed Marrones outburst. "I think guys got it loud and clear today," Jackson said. "We werent getting anything accomplished in the beginning of it. So he had us go to the sideline, get it all out of our system and move on." NOTES: Marrone said WR Sammy Watkins (bruised ribs) and CB Leodis McKelvin (groin) have not been cleared to play against Tampa Bay on Saturday. Watkins has been limited in practice this week since being hurt in a 19-16 loss at Pittsburgh last weekend. McKelvin has missed the past two practices. ... Marrone wont say how long he expects to keep his starters in on Saturday. But he hasnt ruled out playing his starting offensive line in Buffalos preseason finale against Detroit next week. Of those five today, only Nolin is still with the "Herd" and he missed a chunk of the season with an injury. Stroman is up with the Blue Jays as a key member of the starting rotation. Drabek was just called up this past weekend to be part of the Jays bullpen after the organization decided he was better suited to relief pitching. Romero is done for the season with a knee injury and Hendriks was part of the trade with the Kansas City Royals that brought Danny Valencia to the Blue Jays. So the Bisons rotation for the final two weeks of International Leage season looks distinctly different and appears to offer the Blue Jays a lot more upside. Nolin is still pitching well. Lefty Daniel Norris has been brilliant in his first two Triple-A starts, striking out a total of 23 batters. Raul Valdes is a 36-year-old southpaw, adding a bit of veteran stability. Then, you have a pair of young right handers whove been more than holding their own in Scott Copeland and Kendall Graveman. Graveman is the one who really caught my eye. On Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies-affiliate Lehigh Valley Pigs, he got a no-decision while pitching seven shutout innings. He struck out four and walked none. The 23-year-old right-hander out of Alexander City, Alabama has had a meteoric rise through the Blue Jays organization, especially considering he was just an eighth-round draft pick in 2013. Graveman, or maybe we should start calling him "the Undertaker," has made four different stops throughout the Blue Jays system this season. He started at Low-A Lansing, then moved up to Dunedin in the High-A Florida State League, where he sppent the bulk of this season. Dzenis Burnic Dortmund Jersey. Then, it was on to Double-A New Hampshire and finally Buffalo. Youvre got to be pretty impressive to move up that fast. In total, Graveman has pitched 155 innings this season. He has built a 12-6 record with a sparkling 1.68 ERA. Opponents have only managed to hit .223 off of him and he has surrendered only two home runs in total. The Blue Jays playoff hopes are looking iffy at best right now with just 37 games to play, but the pitching future looks encouraging, especially with the likes of Stroman, Sanchez, Hutchison, Norris, Nolin and now maybe Graveman. This may be the best group of young arms, this side of the New York Mets. --- All this talk of pitching brings me to a great bit of research by Woody Paige of the Denver Post. Going back over the archives, Paige discovered that the Rockies had drafted 569 pitchers (414 right-handers) over their 22-year history. Of those numbers, the only arms that had made any significant impact with Colorado were Canadian lefty Jeff Francis, Aaron Cook, Jason Jennings and Jamey Wright. Is it any wonder then, that Colorado has the worst record in the National League and second-worst in the Majors, just a game ahead of Texas? --- The Detroit Tigers have been stumbling around since June 1, compiling a meagre record of 35-34. They are sitting a half-game back of Seattle for that second Wild Card slot in the American. But one reason not to count Detroit out is that hey have 11 of their remaining games left against the Central cellar-dwellers, the Minnesota twins, and they close out the season at home against with seven-straight games against the Chicago White Sox (three) and the Twins (four). The Mariners, on the other hand, play 13 of their final 27 against the two teams ahead of them in the West in the Los Angeles Angels and the Oakland As. ' ' '
